While some troops may use a modified version of the cleaning method, the following is the approved method for cleaning dishes. It's even the same method used in restaurants around the country to clean dishes! The first step to cleaning dishes is to scrape off any food still on them, then follow the method below.
In this bin, Scouts should use warm water and soap to remove all remaining food from their dishes and utensils. Dishes should be visibly clean.
In the middle bin of your wash station, Scouts should use hot water to rinse all soap from their dishes before sanitizing them.
The last station should be filled with cold water and bleach or a sanitizing tablet. If you are using bleach, you should use 1 tablespoon of bleach per gallon. Dishes should be air dried. You should not dry your dishes with a towel.
